Crowne Consulting Group Identifies Trend in Medical Facilities for Government Workers

Nov. 18, 2010 (Ocoee, Fla.) – Crowne Consulting Group, Inc., an employee benefits consulting firm specializing in on-site medical clinics in Florida, reports a rapidly increasing number of government contracts. Cities, counties, and school districts are recognizing that easier medical access emphasizes improved employee health, which translates into decreased healthcare costs.

“Prior to the economic downturn, monies were good and benefits were rich, but now self-insured employers must look deeper into cost shifting and reducing premiums,” said Brian Branham, chief financial officer for Crowne Consulting Group. “There is an awakening throughout Florida because boards are seeing that worksite clinics in neighboring governments have produced huge success rates in cost savings.”

The successes of early implementers, such as Charlotte County, have moved other agencies to re-examine budgeting for clinics. Crowne has exceeded a 50 percent growth each year since 2007. Its 13th clinic opened in August and four more are slated to open by December, bringing total plan members to nearly 30,000. Among others, Pasco County schools will open three facilities in January, adding 8,500 plan members.

Crowne collaborates with Tennessee-based CareHere, LLC to operate clinics throughout Florida. CareHere specializes in primary care, occupational services, pharmacy, disease management, and wellness. Crowne and CareHere were the first in Florida to bring a cost-saving model for self-funded employers, extending benefits of zero copays, no deductibles, free office visits, screenings, and increased physician face-time.

“With chronic disease accounting for the majority of all health spending, these medical centers can identify risks early, which helps employees and employers avoid serious costs,” said Ray Tomlinson, president of Crowne Consulting Group.
